Wines that we love. Wines that convince.

Enthusiastic feedback, demand from all over the world, top-class awards and excellent ratings at home and abroad confirm the emphatic work on wine. And they testify to an oenological success story that is not commonplace even in southern Styria, which is spoiled by success: the rise of a winery to international renown.

Karl Schauer passed on the legacy of a century-long family tradition to his two sons Stefan and Bernhard a few years ago. They are now leading the winery into the future with innovative straightforwardness.

Their claim is not to chase after any outdated wine trends. They follow their own vision of wine and thus become pioneers of a contemporary wine style themselves.

Today there are countless possibilities to consciously and technologically intervene in the process of shaping wine. This is exactly what Stefan and Bernhard Schauer do not do. They see the highest value in not leaving the wine to its own devices, but giving it space and time to develop. They have a vision of wine and they give it that vision. As designers, they stay in the background, intervening only when it is absolutely necessary and when important decisions about the direction of the wine have to be made. It is a tightrope walk that requires a lot of intuition, concentration and composure. For the two of them, making wine has a lot to do with gut feeling. They observe the wine, taste it, try to understand its character. And they treat it with the utmost respect.

Soil

This is where the Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling site wines grow, all of them displaying inimitable coolness and minerality. It goes without saying that the vineyards, situated at 470 to 560 metres above sea level, are only worked by hand.
