Origin defines the identity and character of our wines. It is the Palaeozoic slate formations of the Sausal, in combination with the exceptional altitude, the steepness of the terrain and the cool night-time winds, that give the wines their very special salty-mineral flavour.
DAC - The
System of origin
The current DAC origin system came into force with the 2018 vintage. DAC is an abbreviation for the Latin "Districtus Austriae Controllatus". It is a system of controlled designation of origin for Austrian quality wines. The Styrian wine pyramid illustrates the three-tier system of protected origin classification for wines.
